Treatment Aftercare

Botox Aftercare

Botox® After Care Advice – it is expected that you will start to see an improvement within 2 or 3 days. The full result may be judged at 2-3 weeks. You may be invited to attend a review appointment at 2-3 weeks where the success of the treatment may be assessed and adjustments to your personal treatment plan made, if necessary.

You will be advised to keep the target muscles inactive for a few hours and to avoid extremes of heat or cold, vigorous exercise, or lying down directly after treatment

Results tend to last 3-4 months.  Movement will begin recovering from 6 – 8 weeks. Frequent treatment at intervals of less than 3 months is NOT recommended.

You will be reminded to rebook 10 weeks after treatment.

Side effects include, but are not limited to;

  • Bruising
  • Swelling at injection sites
  • Redness at injection sites
  • Asymmetry of expression
  • Drooping of the brow, or eyelid
  • Headache or a sensation of ‘tightness’ or ‘heaviness’

Adverse events are uncommon, usually occur within a few days of treatment and are expected to be temporary, usually resolving spontaneously within weeks.

Dermal Fillers Aftercare

  • It is recommended that you do not wear any makeup for 12 hours following the treatment.
  • Avoid any extended exposure to the sun, UV rays and temperatures below 0°C after treatment.
  • It is normal for there to be slight redness, swelling and tenderness around the treated area immediately after treatment. These signs generally disappear within a few days, but make sure you contact your practitioner if they persist.
  • Do not enter a sauna or similar environment for 2 weeks following treatment.
  • The risk of bruising and bleeding may be higher if you are taking aspirin, high doses of vitamin C or any other anti-coagulants. Discuss any concerns that you have with your medical aesthetic practitioner.
  • If you believe that you are experiencing any adverse side effects, contact your practitioner immediately.

Profhilo Aftercare

Obagi Blue Peel Radiance Aftercare

  • Mild peeling and redness is normal. Please consult with us prior to returning to your normal skincare regime (usually 5-7days after your peel). Follow these important steps to help keep your skin protected and healthy while your peel takes effect:
  • Use sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 at all times for at least a week
  • It is recommended that you continue to use sunscreen to help protect your skin and maintain the benefits of the peel even after the initial week.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure
  • Too much sun exposure may cause improper healing and in some cases may reverse the benefits of the peel.
  • Do not exfoliate
  • Treat your skin gently. You may experience mild dry, red, or flaking skin for several days or more after your peel. Do not pick or exfoliate peeling skin. Do not wax or use any form of hair removal during the peeling stage. The dead skin will naturally slough off.
  • Avoid alpha- and beta- hydroxy acid products, retinoids, retinols, and facial products containing fragrance

This is for a few days after the peel. Instead, you can use Obagi Hydrating Moisturiser which is designed to not irritate your skin.

Hyalese® (dissolve dermal fillers) Aftercare

  • Hyalase® is an enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid fillers, but it can also break down naturally occurring hyaluronic acid present in the body. The results can be unpredictable and the effect dramatic with possible loss of volume and some skin laxity. Although some of the effects can be immediate, it can take up to 2 weeks for the final results to be seen and the procedure may need to be repeated.
  • Hyalase® administration can result in anaphylaxis (a severe allergic reaction) which in itself is life-threatening and requires immediate medical attention. Symptoms of a severe allergic reaction can include shortness of breath, wheezing, coughing, difficulty swallowing, swelling of the tongue, eyelids, lips, hoarseness of the voice, stomach pain, nausea, or diarrhoea. If you have any of the above symptoms please report to your nearest Accident and Emergency Department or call 999.
  • Most people are able to continue with normal activities with immediate improvement in their appearance. Some will have some redness, pin prick marks, and possibly swelling – particularly in the lips. Possibly bruising. Any swelling and bruising may be more apparent the next day.
  • Make-up should not be worn for 24 hours
  • You are advised to avoid alcohol, vigorous exercise, sunbathing, and extremes of heat or cold for 14 days post-treatment. These activities have been found to increase and prolong swelling.
  • Swelling may worsen in the first 24 hours and then should settle within the first few days. Cold packs can be helpful in reducing swelling. As a consequence of swelling, and the action of the Hyalase® you may notice some asymmetry. The final result may be judged 2 weeks post-treatment.
  • Bruising may take a few days to appear, arnica can be helpful in clearing bruising. It is advisable to avoid aspirin and alcohol for 12-48 hours after treatment. Tenderness should settle as swelling goes down.
  • Please contact your practitioner if redness, tenderness, itching, or swelling worsens after 3 days, rather than settling.
